In the area

Although adjacent to the Freie Universität Berlin, Studentendorf Schlachtensee takes its name from the beautiful and much beloved lake which is also just steps away. Whenever it strikes your fancy, you can enjoy some quiet in the surrounding park, be social at the beer garden or even take a swim when the weather is warm. About 15 minutes away, you will find the Great Lake Wannsee, which is part of a landscape of lakes along the Havel from Berlin to Potsdam. It’s one of the region’s most picturesque areas and boasts no end to swimming locations and sprawling parks where you can relax and get into nature.

Shopping

Just off campus there are supermarkets, weekly markets, bakeries, pharmacies and doctor offices where you can take care of all your daily needs. Shopping malls, department stores, boutiques, restaurants, cafes, pubs, and more can be found on Schlossstraße in Steglitz, which is within easy reach.

WiFi

As long as you have Eduroam access, you will be able to use the university WiFi network on our campus. For more information about Eduroam, click here or contact your university or school. Additional free WiFi (maxspot) is available to everyone in our Learning Lounge, H 28 and the launderette. Wherever Eduroam can be received, there is also Free WiFi Berlin. Leisure

Our three dormitory tutors also take care of leisure activities in our student dormitory. Depending on their interests and hobbies, they bring residents together: whether it´s a jogging club or a bike excursion, a visit to a museum, a city walk, a chess competition or just a party, like-minded people can quickly be found in Studentendorf.

Biergarten in H14

The Biergarten in H14 is a popular place to meet up and grab a bite or a pint at a reasonable price – sitting outside, relax and have a cold drink or enjoy some delicious food.

Thursday – Saturday  from 6 p.m.

Let off steam or keep fit in our 100 square meter gym. The variety of modern cardio machines and weight benches will help you get the most out of your workout. Access is available with your key-transponder.
