The Studentendorf mourns one of its architects

Auto Draft 1

With his two Partners Friedrich Wilhelm Kraemer and Günther Pfennig, Ernst Sieverts founded the architectural office Kraemer–Pfennig–Sieverts (KPS: later KSP).

In this work setting he had a significant influence on and was responsible for the third and last construction phase of Studentendorf Schlachtensee.

The so-called “WG-Houses” (houses with shared apartments) are – like the whole Studentendorf – experimental buildings for living in student communities.

In 2016 an application for protection as historical monuments was denied by the Berlin State Office for Conservation.

After the student village principle had been declared as finnished, the principle of shared flats or apartments was founded as a new form of living. The four monolithic buildings by KPS (houses 24-27 of Studentendorf) stand as an example for this new way. At the moment they are gently renovated and renewed under the lead of the architect Muck Petzet.

Dr. Ernst Sieverts died on June 25th at the age of 93. We extend our sympathies to his family and friends.
